Is it possible to say "They were given to him" in Spanish, using a se-construction? (Some authors call the se-construction "Passive se," I believe.)

Great! You have answered what was a brainteaser for me. - Ivory1234, Apr 21, 2016
I think what challenged me was trying to specify the gender of the articles (dólares) that were given - Ivory1234, Apr 21, 2016
Gender is not an issue with passive voice. "Los dólares", "las pesetas", etc - the sentence structure is the same - 005faa61, Apr 21, 2016
Yes, of course, with one exception, I think -- the passive with ser. Los derechos a la película ya fueron vendidas. - Ivory1234, Apr 22, 2016
