Need Help with Si Clauses

Hi, I think I understand si clauses fairly well, but I'm having a heck of a time with some of the homework my teacher has given us. I won't post the whole thing, because that would just be cheating, but here is an example (fill in the blanks):

(It's supposed to be a conversation between two people)

  • TERESA "¿Qué _______ hecho tú si tu papá te _______ regalado un carro?"
  • ANITA "Me _______ muerto de la felicidad."

Here is my best guess, but I don't think this is right (my answers are in bold):

  • TERESA "¿Qué habrías hecho tú si tu papá te hubieras regalado un carro?"
  • ANITA "Me habría muerto de la felicidad."

Thanks for any help.

hmmm...

  1. conditional first then subjunctive... (I hope it helps you)

On the second one, I don't even know what you mean. Please revise that the Spanish version is written correctly.

Thanks.

On the second one now...

I couldn't think of it at first...

Me habría/hubiera muerto de felicidad.

Me habría/hubiera muerto de la felicidad, si ....etc etc

Sorry, I formatted it wrong, maybe this will make it more clear. My "best guess" is in bold. - jeanmscheppers, Apr 15, 2016
Oh yes, both are clear now...:) - chileno, Apr 16, 2016

In the second clause of Teresa's question, I think you want "hubiera," not "hubieras," as it is tu papá who is the subject of the clause and therefore the verb would be conjugated to the third-person singular.
