Voting for others on the forum

Question

First I ask the moderators to close this after it's been up a while. I don't need the votes but I want to bring this to the attention of new members who participate on the forum posts.

My opinion and practice is to vote for fellow members who post answers on forum Games and sometimes on general questions. I especially like to vote for members who are below 10K reps to help them reach that milestone.

If you are getting votes but not voting for others (and this can be checked by other members) I simply ask why? This is not a competition and the total of 10 points for voting for others is not going to impact your 24 hour maximum of 200.

There are times when I'll see "357 views" but only two or three votes. Many times an OP will not vote for you when you give them an answer. I had two yesterday that argued with me. Sheesh! - Daniela2041, Apr 10, 2016

Yes, I agree Jubilado, Great post!

I also try to leave an encouraging comment whenever I can. I sometimes feel that some (a few) members here would not leave a vote unless they thought that you had written a sentence in excellent/perfect English or Spanish. This makes me feel sad, because we are all learning here. Some people may only vote for posts where a picture has been posted

Part of the problem is that many people post their sentences for Picture or Word of the Day then don't rerturn to check and vote for late comers, (some don't even return to correct their own posts after the native speaker has corrected them) so if you post a few hours later, or even a day late because you have other pressing things to do outside of SpanishDict (Yes, life does exist outside of cyber world lol) then you receive either no or few votes, and that seems unfair because it doesn't reflect the emount of work that goes into creating a good caption in two languages!

By the way, the rep points gained reflect your contributions to the SpanishDict community and are not intended as an indication of your ability in Spanish or English!
