culminar ( kool-mee-nahr' )

verb ( to culminate; to finish )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

He estado trabajando en el curso Fluencia por unos meses, no todos los días, de vez en cuando, y ayer lo culminé. He hecho todo, aunque estoy segura de que no me acuerdo de todo. Creo que fue muy útil, un curso bueno.

I have been working on the Fluencia course for months, not every day, from time to time, and yesterday I finished it. I have done it all, though I am sure I don't remember it all. I think it is very useful, a good course.

La visita de mi sobrina y su novio culminó anoche con el concierto que nos visitaron para ver, pero mi esposa y yo no fuimos al concierto, y tuvo que ir al trabajo antes de que ellos se despertaran esta mañana, y por eso no podía pude preguntarles directamente cómo fue- pero estoy seguro de que mi esposa lo hará.

The visit of my niece and her boyfriend culminated last night with the concert that they visited us to see, but my wife and I did not go to the concert, and I had to go to work before they woke up this morning, and so I could not ask them directly how it was- but I am sure my wife will do so.

They live in a city 6-7 hours away by car. They visited us to have a place to stay to make the whole thing affordable. So they visited us in order to be able to go to the concert. - bosquederoble, Mar 25, 2016

I got it 'La visita de mi sobrina y su novio que nos visitaron para ver un concierto culminó anoche' the problem is when you want to fix it without changing the whole structure of the sentence - Pablo064, Mar 26, 2016

En algunos sitios de España los increíble procesiones de Semana Santa culminan con veinte golpes en la espalda desnuda por parte de los disciplinantes, hasta que brota el sangre,y en otros sitios culminan con el canto de Misere por un coro.

In some places in Spain the incredible Easter processions finish with the' disciples' giving themselves 20 lashes over their bare shoulders, until they draw blood, in other parts the culmination is the singing of the Misere psalm by a chorus.
