Reputation benefits (Ad Reduction?)

Question

I just looked at my Reputation benefits and I noticed that once I passed the 4,000 reputation gain, I would get reduced advertising throughout the site. From what I see, I have the same number of ads in the same places as they were before I reached 4,000 reps. What's up with that?

I have no ads, I use ad-blocker. It works.

I found the same thing. I think it gets rid of one or two of the pop-ups on the top or bottom (it has been long enough ago that I don't remember exactly).

I use it not so much due to the ads annoying me, but instead because the ads especially videos can bog the performance so much on loading that it drives me crazy. I can't figure out how to get ad-plus on my ipad, so it has become almost useless for this site as it crashes every time it tries to load the memory intensive ads associated.
