Here is a link explaining when to attach object pronouns, which is only an option with infinitives, gerundios, and positive commands.

A sentence is generally based on a conjugated verb. You cannot attach a pronoun to a normally conjugated verb. In Spanish object pronouns that are not attached are generally placed in front of the conjugated verb.
Tú me ayudas- you help me.
Tú ayudarme is not a sentence, it is a fragment. You to help me.
Tú is generally only included if it is needed for emphasis or clarification.
