There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Enjoy Your Sunday

Just as the sun set over the beautiful mountain range, fresh garden plants sprouted in their finest form.

Apenas como el sol en la hermosa cordillera, plantas de jardín frescas brotaban en su mejor forma.

Cuando creces cultivas verduras, puedes plantear las semillas directamente en la tierra, o primero puedes brotar las plantas primeramente en contenadores.

When you grow vegetables, you can plant the seeds directly in the ground, or you can first sprout the plants in containers.

Actualmente hay muchas plantas que brotan en mi jardín, y pasé mucho de ayer decidiendo cuáles debería arrancar y cuáles debería dejar en sus posiciones para que crecer crezcan, pero sólo por una parte y queda mucho para hacer.

Currently there are many plants that are sprouting in my garden, and I spent much of yesterday deciding which I should pull out and which I should leave in place to grow, but only through one part and a lot remains to be done.

Sounds like it is difficult. - rac1, Mar 20, 2016
If you recognize all the plants, it is more simply tedious. :) - bosquederoble, Mar 20, 2016
I agree Bosque, gardening is rather over-rated. - annierats, Mar 20, 2016

Silencio - Poemas de Octavio Paz

Así como del fondo de la música brota una nota que mientras vibra crece y se adelgaza hasta que en otra música enmudece, brota del fondo del silencio otro silencio, aguda torre, espada, y sube y crece y nos suspende y mientras sube caen recuerdos, esperanzas, las pequeñas mentiras y las grandes, y queremos gritar y en la garganta se desvanece el grito: desembocamos al silencio en donde los silencios enmudecen.

Silence - Octavio Paz And when from the depths of song

A note vibrates, grows and wanes

Until in other harmonies

It melds into the depths of silence,

Hark! there comes another silence

Atop a steeple, sharp as a sword

That soars and lifts, suspending us

And as it soars, it lets go

Memories and hopes, lies big and small.

And though we want to cry

In our throat, dies the scream:

We flow into the sea of silence,

Wherein all silences are mute.

Pequeñas tomates brotan sin ayuda , las aves comen y defecan las semillas,

que germinan en donde aterrizan.

Small tomatoes sprout unassisted, birds eat them and defecate the seeds ,

they germinate where they land.
