Urgent help required

Question

I have written a sentence including the subjunctive (I think) tense, but I'm not sure if it is grammatically accurate. Please chack and help:

Las vacaciones permiten a las familias que pasen mas tiempo juntas y para mí es importante descubrir países y aprender sobre su gente y su cultura.

Context: Holidays allow families to spend more time together and, for me, it is important to discover countries and to learn about their people and culture.

There are various ways to say this, but to use your variant I would make two small changes: Las vacaciones permiten a que las familias pasen más tiempo juntas y para mí es importante descubrir otros / nuevos países y aprender sobre su gente y su cultura.

In this way pasar is in subjuntive due to sentence structure and not necessarily due to possibility. Also an adjective for países gives more clarity.

In your original sentence it seems you have used a personal "A" for familias, but it is not necessary because you are talking about groups of people in general and nothing personal.
