I would like to say 'I will remember it' in a sentence where I talk about my holiday in Italy. I am not sure how to structure it. Could you please suggest your ideas?

Context: Generally, Italy was amazing and I will always remember it.

I would use fue because you are really saying that your visit to Italy was amazing. To focus on the country, then it´s best to use present tense because the country is still the same unless you are comparing the condition of the past to today, such as before WW2, etc.

I agree with Julian and make this hesitant suggestion:

Italia es un país de maravillla y mi visita fue estupenda.// pasé unas vacaciones estupendas por allí. Nunca me olvidaré. ¿algo asi? O ¿ nunca me olvidaré de mi tiempo allí?

Julian, please? Olvidarse is so difficult! - annierats, Mar 20, 2016
A nice variant. "Nunca las (vacaciones) olvidaré" / "Nunca me olvidaré de ..... " - 005faa61, Mar 20, 2016
Thanks Julian. I'll go with your second version. - annierats, Mar 20, 2016

I thought it was 'fue' instead of 'era', please clarify. - spanishrookie123, Mar 20, 2016
We should wait for a response from a more advanced person. (Ser vs Ir) You may be right? - 00cc0117, Mar 20, 2016
no ir and ser are the same in preterite the question is imperfect or preterite - Mardle, Mar 20, 2016
