kind of vs type of

Question

I´m Miguel from Nicaragua and I´d like to know what is the difference between "kind of" and "type of", my teacher says there´s no any difference. Thanks a lot!

They are the same if you say, ie: Bolero is a kind / type of music (tipo / estilo de)

But if you say, ie: I kind of enjoy Bolero music, in this case kind of means más o menos.

Kind has various meanings, as does type.

In the general sense, when used to mean “tipo de”, “clase de” or “especie de” I think they are generally interchangeable, but probably not every time.

Of course “that is kind of you” (es muy amable de/por su/tu parte) cannot be replaced with type of.

Nor can- I am kind of tired (estoy algo cansado)

Even with – no es mi tipo- he’s not my type- That would sound very odd as he’s not my kind.
