I have used this many times, and was not corrected by any native speakers. Here is the example that I'am talking about.

(A mi me encanta su casa. )Tell me all you can about the "a" used before the word mi in this sentence. Thankyou all.

Dime todo lo que pueda sobre el uso del palabra antes de la una "a" mí en este ejemplo? - 00cc0117, Mar 14, 2016
After reading a recent post that was very well written, about the personal "a" I did not or missed this example cited above. - 00cc0117, Mar 14, 2016
In your example it is a ' strenghtener' it puts emphasis on yourself. - annierats, Mar 14, 2016

It is the personal a. Nothing else. In your example is used to emphasise the subject.

A Pedro le gusta mi coche.

With more context :

Le gusta mi coche

Trying to describe who we are referring to, or with emphasis: a el le gusta mi coche.

With your example it would be the same with the diference that a context is not needed because the person who we are referring to is the same person that is speaking.

-person 1: (a mi)me gusta su casa.

-person 2: a mi también (me gusta su casa)

-person 3: a Maria y a mi no nos gusta (su casa). Note. "A mi y a Maria" would not be polite. Somebody could say you "el burro por delante para que no se espante"

Personal "a" is a requirement for situations that call for it. When you have scenarios that might work with or without an "a" somewhere, it's not a personal "a."

In your situation the "a" is not a requirement. The "a mí" is used more like "for me" is optional vs the personal "a" that has no direct translation in English.

For example:

"I like my house, but Pedro says it's too modern" "For/to me, your house delights [me]" - You're clarifying/emphasizing to whom the house pleases. "A mí me encanta su casa"

Personal "a" would be a requirement in the following scenario however:

"I am going to call Betty" - "Voy a llamar a Betty"

A mí, me encanta su casa. --->(As for me)I like his/her/your(plural)/their house

But it's something I would say when I'm arguing with someone who states that he/she doen't like the house or something like that(to add emphasys)

e.g.

  • A mí no me gusta
  • Pues a mí, sí
