minucioso ( mee-noo-syoh'-soh )

adjective ( meticulous; thorough, detailed )

Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

In this façade, you can appreciate the meticulous work done by the stone carvers.

2: Luther es un detective minucioso; si hay pistas, las encontrará.

Luther is a thorough detective; if there are clues, he'll find them.

Corregir todas las respuestas de Palabra del día , día tras dia, es un trabajo bastante difícil, y me imagino que a veces resulta aburrido. Quiero darle las gracias a Pablo por hacer un trabajo minucioso cada día sin perder la paciencia aunque sigamos equivocándonos tanto.

Correcting all the answers on Word of the Day, day in and day out, is a hard job and I should think it must be boring at times. I want to thank Pablo for the painstaking work he does every day, without losing his patience even though we continue making so many mistakes.

Como analista químico tenía que ser minucioso en lo que hice hacía y en lo que escribí escribía en mi cuaderno de laboratorio. ¡Nunca entenderé el uso de pretérito contra imperfecto!

As a chemical analyst I had to be meticulous in what I did and in what I wrote in my lab notebook.

En mi experiencia con los idiomas, creo que a veces ser demasiado minucioso es contraproducente. Es mejor no pensarlo demasiado.

In my experience with languages, I think sometimes to be too meticulous is counterproductive. It's best not to think about it in excess.

Corrected.

En mi opinión, el control minucioso por los monitores y miembros de alto nivel, con muchos hablantes nativos, hacen "Spanishdict" un buen sitio de aprendizaje.

In my opinion, fastidious control by monitors and senior members, with many native speakers, make "spanishdict" such a good learning site.
