Licking his wounds?

Licking his wounds?

Just had a quick question about an idiomatic translation of the phrase licking his wounds. I am writing a paper and am rather attached to this phrase I know the translator spits out "lamiendo sus heridas". I just want to know if this is accurate or if there is a better option or translation.

"Está lamiéndose las heridas" is an alternative.

Thanks, jefe, but I remember what Gringo said about the answers belonging to the community and not just the OP. I can understand closing it, as long as I had my chance to answer and that members learning Spanish don't get confused. - Daniela2041, Mar 4, 2016
