Spanish idioms to do with sadness and heartbreak?

Hi! My teacher has told me that I need to include more idiomatic phrases into my spanish coursework and I was wondering if anyone knew any phrases in relation to sadness or heartbreak. (I've just finished say that 'sentía muy triste y casi lloré').

Muchas gracias amigos

Some phrases would be "lo siento"= I'm sorry. "Estoy triste" = I'm sad. There are many idoms from different cultures. Check out rac1's link.

In Costa Rica there is a "dicho" for when feeling down or to say to the little children when crying.

Nadie me quiere,

nadie me ama,

mejor me vuelvo a un gusanito.

If a husband / boyfriend or (wife / girlfriend) leaves.

El cabro (la cabra) se brincó la cerca.

If he or (she) cheats.

El cabro (la cabra) me puso los cachos.

For a broken heart.

Estoy de cabanga.
