indefinite articles - un/una chef

hi!

Nouns(professions) such as "chef" has the same form both for feminine and masculine. in such cases, please let me know which of the following sentences are correct :

1.1- mi madre es "un chef" mejor que ella .

1.2- mi madre es "una chef" mejor que ella .

2.1- mi madre es "un chef" en el restaurante Colon .

2.2- mi madre es "una chef" en el restaurante Colon .

Four answers are quite incorrect (I hope that your Spanish teacher didn't write them).

Besides, these examples are strange to teach any about the indefinitive articles, because if you write those sentences in the correct way the article is not required:

To compare the word chef you can't use the indefinitive article, so the options would be only two:

Mi madre es mejor chef que ella .

Mi madre es chef en el restaurante Colón

Anyway, it is not common to use the chef word in Spanish (only in the Michelin star restaurants). Any Spanish speakers would say.

Mi madre es mejor cocinera que ella .

Mi madre es cocinera en el restaurante Colón (In this sentence chef would be common).

So, if you want to learn about the indefinitive article, probably there are thousands of better examples than this one.

Wouldn't "chef" (a French word that means "chief" in English) be "jefe" in Spanish?

i am learning Spanish by myself and my reliable references are a few books and Sites for Learning Spanish. I read the first example, No.1.1 . mi madre es "un chef" mejor que ella, in a book and I asked myself why it should not be “ una chef” since “mi madre” is a feminine subject.
However, Regardless the examples let me change my question as follow :

What is the correct form of indefinite articles for nouns such as “architecto , poeta , chef, …” which has equal form for both masculine and feminine? . “un or una”?

just now , i again found another example "Quiero un tostada" . Why in this sentence we must use "un" as indifinite article while 'tostada" is a feminine subject. - shahnarges, Feb 23, 2016
