"I've been working on it"

Question

How would you say, "I've been working on it" in spanish? I've been working on it being used as something that you've worked on in the past and continue to work on into the present, but He trabajado en él seems more to mean "I've worked on it," and it just doesn't seem right, but He estado trabajando en él seems too literal. Any help is appreciated

Various ways. Some are: Lo he estado prestando toda mi atención / Sigo con el asunto / Me sigue dando lata esta chingadera / etc.

You are right in that the translation you found is too literal, it sounds very anglosized.
