Hola, Gringo:

I have heard this only several times. I think it has to do with having "highlights" done in your hair.

That is what I found but it does not make sense in this context. I am wondering if it is idiomatic. - gringojrf, Feb 14, 2016
or slang for something. Or maybe I am just being dense. - gringojrf, Feb 14, 2016
She's saying, I already told you I don't want roses, I just want to get my hair highlighted. - Daniela2041, Feb 14, 2016

Por lo menos en Chile mechas = pelo

So, it is saying that she woud like a hairdo.

Check that out with Mexican people though, because I know Mexicans talk about "greñas"

That´s right, but "greñas" is hair that is a mess - 005faa61, Feb 14, 2016
You sure Julian? What about "se agarraron de las greñas", does it mean that both of the contendors had a mess out of their hair? Know what I mean? - chileno, Feb 15, 2016
