Simple Adverbs
Many adverbs can also be formed from adjectives using the following formula:
feminine singular adjective + -mente (the Spanish equivalent of the English -ly) dulce + -mente = dulcemente (sweetly)
Me besó dulcemente. (He kissed me sweetly.)
fácil + -mente = fácilmente (easily)
Hice el examen fácilmente. (I easily finished the exam.)
rápida + -mente = rápidamente (quickly)
Corrí rápidamente para escapar de los perros. (I ran quickly to escape the dogs.)
romántico + -mente = románticamente (romantically)
Escribe románticamente para ganar su corazón. (He writes romantically to win her heart.)
Sequences of adverbs that end in -mente are typically avoided by only placing the suffix on the final adverb in the sequence. The other adverbs simply take the feminine adjective form.
Debe hacerlo clara, rápida y correctemente. (He should do it clearly, quickly, and correctly.)
