There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

My dog and I have basically the same hairstyle.

2: La decisión que tomó la jueza afectará fundamentalmente al acusado.

The decision made by the judge will mainly affect the defendant.

Forcing all sovereign European countries into a single super state (EU) is fundamentally wrong and a breach of the human rights of citizens of those countries and an atempt to erase the cultures of those countries.

The way I see it, the political debates are fundamentally insipid, because in reality they are not debates in which each participant can meticulously develop his point of view or opinion, but instead are a verbal boxing match where, in several rounds of 30 to 90 seconds, the participants attack each other with many punches and verbal blows, hoping to knock somebody out.

La teoría de la cuántica mecánica cuántica describe muy bien el mundo de las cosas muy pequeñas y la teoría de general de la relatividad funciona muy bien en escalas grandes, pero las dos describen universos fundamentalmente distintos, los que también son muy distintos a lo que experimentamos durante la vida cotidiana. Los físicos continúan tratando de averiguar una teoría que funcione igualmente igual de bien en estos tres dominios.

The theory of quantum mechanics describes the world of very small things very well and the general theory of relativity works very well on large scales, but the two describe fundamentally distinct universes, which are also very different from what we experience during daily life. Physicists continue to try to discover a theory that works equally well in these three domains.

El punto de encuentro:
