There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Tengo confianza en Estoy seguro de que mi día hasta ahora podría haber ido peor, pero también en de que podría haber ido mejor- supongo que es lo mismo con la mayoría de los días, pero hoy ya ha ocurrido suficientes acontecimientos que es más obvio.

I am confident that my day so far today could have gone worse, but also in that it could have gone better- I suppose that it is the same with most days, but today there have already been enough happenings that it is more obvious.

Children usually have great confidence in their parents, then lose it as teens, then gain it again when they become new parents.

Los niños normalmente tienen gran confianza en sus padres, y luego la pierden como jovenes, y gañarla otra vez cuando se convierten en nuevos padres.

There is a reason for that. Unfortunately a time of rebellion that led teens to leave their parents that worked in ancient societies is no longer the correct time to leave in modern times. :) - bosquederoble, Feb 2, 2016

No hay que confundir un político con gente de confianza, pues son muy diferentes.

A politician should not be confused with trustworthy people, as they are very different.

Una vez que la confianza se rompa rompe es muy difícil continuar una relación amistosa.

Once trust is broken it is very difficult to continue an amicable relationship.

No tengo nada de confianza en los gobiernos humanos. Estoy esperando lo que Cristo nos mandó que esperásemos--el Reino de Dios. "Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo aquí an la tierra. (Matt. 6:10)

I don't have any confidence at all in human governments. I am waiting for what Christ commanded that we should wait for---the Kingdom of God. "Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. (Matt 6:10)

Prefiería tener un paracaídas si tuviera que saltar de un avíon, como no tengo confianza en que Jesus me suvaice la caída.

I would prefer to have a parachute, if I had to jump from a plane, as I have no confidence in Jesus breaking my fall.
