"So bad" but not "mala"

Question

Hello again,

I haven't had any success finding how to say "so bad" when in the following type of context:

"Why do you want to learn math so bad?" (badly)

Would you just use mucho? Like ¿Por qué quieres aprender tan mucho?

What about in a different context? Such as:

Why is he doing so badly at math?

I would say it this way:

First context:

¿Por qué tienes tantas ganas de aprender matemáticas?

Second context:

¿Por qué le está yendo tan mal en matemáticas? / ¿Por qué le va tan mal en matemáticas? / ¿Por qué es tan malo en matemáticas?

Other options for the second context: ¿Por qué te cuestan tanto trabajo las matemáticas? / Por qué eres tan malo/bruto para las matemáticas? / ¿Por qué te dan tanta lata las matemáticas?

¿Por qué tienes tantas ganas de aprender matemáticas? = Why are so eager to learn math?

Por qué te dan tanta lata las matemáticas? = Why is math so boring to you
