New Appearance of Adverts

Question

I use Google Chrome with AdBlock and Adblock Plus. A few days ago small adverts from sponsored links started appearing on the right side of the page, although none appear on any other sites. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm guessing that Adblock gave this "allow non-intrusive ads" option so that the free sites we like - like this one - can make a bit of money. I'm pretty sure that if we users click on an ad, SD will make a few cents each time. Something to think about. - Findy, Jan 28, 2016

I just checked my Adblock settings. I had checked "allow some non-intrusive ads." I clicked that off and the side ads disappeared. I think I must have set it to allow for SpanishDict. I don't mind keeping those so much (it was the very annoying flashy & sound ads that were driving me crazy.) I just clicked it back on that they came back. Ads are how SpanishDict makes money, so I'll leave them on (just so I know I allowed it and they didn't just sneak in). lol

General options

Allow some non-intrusive advertising

Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels

Add items to the right click menu

Show number of ads blocked on AdBlock button

I'm an advanced user, show me advanced options

Yes, I have them too. Right now there is one reading "10 Refrescantes Recetas de Licuados" and another reading "And the Best Stock for 2016 is ...." According to the fine print they are sponsored links by Taboola. There are also ads along the bottom from iPhone, Android, and Windows. Those might have been there all along. I hardly ever look that far down the page.

The top one changed when I submitted this response. Looks as if they rotate through some undetermined number of ads. - AnnRon, Jan 27, 2016
