There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

1: Ya quítale esas botas ridículas al perro.

Take those ridiculous boots off the dog already.

2: ¡No le quites el chupete al bebé!

Don't take the baby's pacifier away!

A mi esposa no le gusta quitar el polvo que está en un nivel mucho más alto que su cabeza y por eso yo suelo hacerlo, aunque con frecuencia tengo que usar un taburete escalón y un plumero en una vara larga lo mismo que ella tendría que hacer.

My wife does not like to dust at a level much higher than her head, and so I usually do it, even though frequently I have to use a step stool and a duster on a long pole the same as she would have to do.

Bosque, you mean you have now (recently) returned to live in Spain or do you mean that you have returned to favour the Spanish spoken there? - FELIZ77, Jan 12, 2016

Estoy aprendiendo el vocabulario de mi deporte nuevo, el enganche de caballos. Hay que saber como colocar los arreos, que tambien se llama guarnición, como enganchar el caballo al carruaje, y después de dar una vuelta, saber como quitarle todas estas cosas y limpiarlas..

I'm learning the vocabulary of my new sport, carriage- driving. One has to know how to harness the horse, and how to hitch the horse up to the carriage, and after going out for a drive, how to take all these things off the horse and how to clean them. enter image description here
