There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Este es un molusco que vive en las profundidades del inmenso océano y casi nunca ha sido fotografiado y, de verdad, parecía extincto pero gracias al biologo marino Peter Ward ya tenemos esta foto del molusco Allonautilus scrobiculatus, un animal muy raro de reprodución masculina.

This is a mollusk , which lives in the depths of the immense ocean and which has hardly ever been photographed , indeed it was thought to be extinct but thanks to theMarine Bologist Peter Ward we now have this photo of the mollusk Allonautilus Scrobiaculatus, a strange animal with male reproduction.

That looks like one crusty nautilus, ;) - bosquederoble, Jan 9, 2016
Amazing creatures :-)! - Jraider, Jan 9, 2016
Aparently , it was seen 30 years ago, then not seen until this Peter Ward managed to get aphoto. It lives in rather deep and dark waters, that is half the trouble, and how do they know that it reproduces only through the male, if they never see it?? - annierats, Jan 9, 2016
It's a rare find. No telling how long he'd been searching for just the right photo. - katydew, Jan 9, 2016
..en lo profundo..or en las profundidades.. :) - Pablo064, Jan 9, 2016
My comment of course relates to the fact that that nautilus does indeed look somewhat crusty, but is also called a crusty nautilus. ;) - bosquederoble, Jan 10, 2016
Thanks Bosque! Amnd thanks Pablo, but how confusing, lo profundo, las profundidades,no wonder I can never get it right. - annierats, Jan 10, 2016

En vez de la inmensa alegría vemos aquí un inmenso susto del padre y no es de extrañar.

Instead of the immense joy we see here a huge scare of the father and it is not surprising.

Un antiguo sitio inmenso y no muy bien conocido se sitúa en el sudeste de Turquía. Data de hace 12,000 (doce mil) años, se opina ser se cree que fue un lugar de entierro y contiene pilares grandes de piedra con animales tallados en bajorrelieve. Dado que fue construido lejos de un lugar para vivir, parece que cumplió una función totalmente ritualista. Se llama Göbekli Tepe.

An immense ancient site not very well known is located in southeastern Turkey. It dates from 12,000 (twelve thousand) years ago, is believed to be a burial site and contains great stone carved pillars with animals carved in bas-relief. Since it was built far from a place of habitation, it seems to have served a totally ritualistic purpose. It’s name is Göbekli Tepe.

From wherever I could possibly stand and view the ocean, it is more vast than I could imagine.

There is an immense number of stars in the universe, but there is also an enormous distance between them. Some believe that there are enough stars that there must be other civilizations somewhere, but we have never seen even a trace (yes, there is controversy in this). One wonders if we are alone, if the distance is too great to be crossed, if these civilizations are so advanced that they don't interfere in our affairs or if the truth is that they do live hidden among us.

Although we humans have accumulated an immense amount of knowledge about the world and what we need to live well, still everywhere we are doing stupid and harmful things. What is the matter with us?
