Could this Spanish be improved?

Después de que un accidente en un autobús la se dejó discapacitada, empezó a pintar como fuente de ingresos.

what I want to say, in English, is:

After an accident in a bus left her disabled, she started to paint as a source of income.

The correct Spanish is:

Después de que un accidente de bus la dejó/dejara incapacitada, (ella) comenzó a pintar para ganar dinero.

Thanks so much. Why use comensar, rather than empezar? - togtog, Dec 29, 2015
Shouldn't it be "pintar P A R A ganar dinero?" - Daniela2041, Dec 29, 2015
Comenzar and empezar are synonymous. - Daniela2041, Dec 29, 2015
Dani, claro que es para, I didn't write it....age? :D - chileno, Dec 29, 2015
I know that Comenzar and empezar are synonymous. However, chileno changed one to the other - I wondered why? If they are exactly the same, why change it? Is there a difference between them in some way? - togtog, Dec 30, 2015
