There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

I was impressed by the façade of the House of Tiles when I visited Mexico City.

2: No te dejes engañar por la fachada de honestidad que mantiene mi primo.

Don't be fooled by the facade of honesty my cousin keeps up.

Alberto: Vamos a sentarnos aquí para comer. Desde aquí, podemos ver la fachada espectacular de los edificios coloridos enfrente de la bahía.

Natalia: ¡Esta es una vista asombrosa!

Alberto: Let us sit here to eat. From here, we can view the spectacular façade of the colorful buildings across the bay.

Creo que no hay nadie quien sepa como es Papá Noel, de veras. Quien sabe lo que esconde este hombre detrás de su fachada tan bondadosa.

I believe there is no one who knows what Father Christmas is really like. Who knows what this man might hide behind his oh so friendly front.

Tenemos ladrillos en la fachada de la casa, aunque sólo cubren la parte inferior, y cuando compramos contratamos el seguro , nos dijeron que nos vendieron vendían la o cobertura para terremotos o la cobertura para los ladrillos, pero no las dos. Le dije a mi esposa que yo arreglaría los ladrillos si se cayeran.

We have bricks on the front of the house, even though they only cover the lower part, and when we bought the insurance, they told us that they would sell us either coverage for earthquakes or coverage for the bricks, but not both. I told my wife that I would fix the bricks if they fell down.

Algunas personas usan una fachada para ocultar su verdadera personalidad. Yo prefiero las personas que mostrarán sus verrugas.

Some people wear a facade to disguise their true personality. I prefer people who will show their warts.
