Could anyone help me with this question,

¿Cuándo ____ Ud. que iban a presentar esta obra?

A) Sabías B) Sabía C) Supiste D) Supo

I'm pretty sure it's either A or C because its asking someone a question therefor tu. But I'm not sure whether its preterite or imperfect. If I had to give it a go, I'd say imperfect (Sabías) because it doesn't really have an end and it wasn't really a specific time.

Okay you are completely wrong. It has Ud. so you know it is not A or C (Ud. is the abbreviation for usted- the formal "you"). I would choose the preterit, because it is a bit of information you found out, you became aware of, not that you used to know. Very closed, not open ended.

So D. Supo would seem correct.

When did you find out that (they/you all) were going to present this work.

You're completely right and you explained it well, but gecko gave it a shot (after having to be asked, but still), so I think something like "It doesn't work quite like that./It's actually somewhat different." might've been nicer than 'You are completely - Suzanne_Romijnders, Dec 14, 2015
wrong'. However, there's yet to appear a 'thank you' from gecko just as well. I hope you see this the way it was intended: as constructive 'criticism'. :) - Suzanne_Romijnders, Dec 14, 2015
