There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1: No hay un solo árbol en este paisaje plano y árido.

There's not a single tree in this flat, barren landscape.

2: Si no quedan planos los estantes, se va a caer todo.

If the shelves aren't level, everything will fall off.

Déjame hablar con franqueza con usted—todo lo que usted cree que es completamente equivocado y que es la verdad sin adornos. La tierra gira alrededor del sol? ¡Venga! Usted sabe que el mundo es plano!

Let me level with you—everything you believe is flat out wrong and that is the plain truth. The earth revolves around the sun? Come on! You know the world is flat!

Let me speak frankly with with you—everything you believe is completely wrong and that is the unembellished truth. The earth revolves around the sun? Come on! You know the world is flat!

Flat World

Según la física clásica, si algo se desliza sobre una superficie plana sin fricción, irá en la misma dirección con la misma velocidad para siempre a menos que se lo aplique alguna fuerza externa. Esta teoría es difícil de probar como debido a que es difícil crear un superficie sin fricción (excepto en la mente); sin embargo todo el mundo la acepta.

According to classical physics, if something is sliding over a flat surface without friction, it will go in the same direction at the same velocity forever unless some external force is applied to it. This theory is difficult to test as it is difficult to create a frictionless surface (except in one's mind); nonetheless everyone accepts it.

I like Annie’s input: https://physics.aps.org/story/v12/st22 even frigid intergalactic space is awash in microwave photons that would gradually slow a drifting space traveler. - bosquederoble, Dec 11, 2015
So she was right in reminding us that photons provide a form of friction. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 12, 2015
..difícil de probar..I'd use 'porque' 'debido a que' 'ya que' ..since 'como' doesn't sound right there...de probar debido a que es difícil.. - Pablo064, Dec 12, 2015
Gracias, Pablo. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 12, 2015

Entre nosotros están aquellos que recuerdan del musical Mi bella dama, una obra adaptado de Pígmalion de George Bernard Shaw. Una de las canciones más conocidas fue En España la lluvias sobre todo cae en las llanuras/el plano. In Hartford , Hereford y Hampshire casi nunca ocurren los huracanos. Jeje, una entrada para los más culto de l SD, o quizás los más mayores, no sé.

Among us there are those that can remember the musical ' My Fair Lady', a creation based on George Bernard Shaw's, Pygmalion. One of the best known songs was ' The Rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain. In Hartford , Hereford and Hampshire hurricanes hardly ever happen.' Well,ha ha, this answer is just for the more educated section of SD, or maybe the older people, I don't know.

Para algunas personas, tarda mucho tiempo acostumbrarse a ideas nuevas y los descubrimientos de los científicos, pero actualmente casi nadie cree que la tierra es plana.

For some people it takes a lot of time to get used to new ideas and the discoveries of scientists, but these days almost no-one believes that the earth is flat.
