Fue vs. Era....Una Pregunta

Hola!

I have a quick question.

If I want to say "the art was very fascinating," would it be "el arte fue muy fascinante" or would it be "el arte era muy fascinante?"

Gracias!

I am sorry, but more context is needed as it can be "fue" or "era"

Gracias. Also, one more question. If I am saying that I liked something, would I use preterite or imperfect? - 00856ad4, Dec 8, 2015

Did you look at the art for a couple of hours at the museum, or were you at a week-long tour? Actually, from what a Spanish-speaking neighbor told me, you'd be fine using either one.

Yes, depends on context. - annierats, Dec 8, 2015

I'm actually pretty sure, depending on context and what you want to say, it could be either. Era is generally used for descriptions in the past.

And "fue" if you're just stating a fact. - Daniela2041, Dec 8, 2015
Danie, if I used "era" I wouldn't be stating a fact? - chileno, Dec 10, 2015
