how do i use a subjunctive tense with other subjunctive tenses?

i started having problems with subjunctive. what will i end up meaning if i use subjunctive imperfect with other subjunctive tenses? How am i supposed to use subjunctive with other kinds of subjunctive?

Hi Jake

Welcome to the forum.

Learning about the subjunctive mood is a huge topic. I know in lessons that the use of the subjunctive can often make a subtle difference. As someone who is capable of starting a sentence in English without knowing how it will end I am full of admiration for the Spanish flair for language.

Can you note on your profile your level of English and Spanish? The reason for adding it to your profile, is that a person wanting to respond to your question or maybe look at an answer you have given can check your profile and tailor an answer to it.

Can you explain more carefully the problem you are having? For example in 'estilo indirecto' there are rules about how the tenses go together. Additionally compound tenses often involve the verb haber in the subjunctive

I could post a link to a full guide or to a one page guide on the subjunctive. I suspect bosque would post the same brief guide by a retired American professor. However, we may not be answering your point.

There are lessons all over the internet and on this site. Questions work best where the answers help everyone and are not easily solved by an internet search. Do you have a teacher or are you teaching yourself?

I look forward to more information when no doubt you will receive a further answer.

Hi, Jake:

After you fill out your profile, give us an example in English of the problem you are speaking of. We need to know where you are in Spanish so that we can give a quick simple answer or go more into detail with links and so forth if you need it. I have posted a thread on the subjunctive-just the first installment. I will be forthcoming with two or three more as soon as I can get them typed up.

You don't have to start all over by asking a new question, just find the edit link on your present question and put in what we are asking for (the examples) Then either I or one of the other members will assist you.
