"had each player attempt"
Hi, I am trying to figure out a way to translate the phrase: "had each player attempt" into Spanish.
I thought habia intentar at first, but also thought tenia might work as well.
Very confused by this phrase, thanks for the help.

Had is a very idiomatic usage in this sense, which I do not think translates directly. In English it can be requested, or made (in this case made does translate that way).
A basketball coach had each player attempt 25 baskets during practice.
.
This is a very difficult sentence. I am making my best attempts, but I would wait and see if a native speaker would correct them before being sure.
For made them: Un entrenador de baloncesto les hizo intentar tirar a canasta veinticinco veces a todos los jugadores.
For asked them to: Un entrenador de baloncesto les pidió a todos los jugadores que intentaran tirar a canasta veinticinco veces.
My first attempt was " los tenia que intentado" but after looking at it that seems to translate as "he had to attempt them." The other option I worked with was " habia que intenten."
A basketball coach had each player attempt 25 baskets during practice.
