"The cars were racing" ?
Hello! I want to tell one story of a two cars that were racing and a third one outrun the two of them. I know that racing as a noun is carrera, but how do you say "were racing" ? Also how to say outrun - exceder, sobrepasar? Which one is the correct?
Thank you ![]()

Here is what I think.
Dos carros estaban compitiendo y otro los pasó.
When you use the word "de carrera", to a native Spanish speaking it sounds as "in a hurry = ¡Voy de carrera!
I would say: Dos coches iban de carrera y un tercer coche los rebasó.
Dos coches iban a echar una carrera, pero los pasó otro??? I'm not a native, pls note that I'm only playing around with this one. Good question, anyway.

You can use any of these verbs to mean to overtake: adelantar, pasar o rebasar
ex: He overtook the truck = Adelantó (o pasó / rebasó) el camión.
I hope this helps ![]()
