I just saw the sentence below in an article I was reading. Is "an" a contraction of "a" + "un"? I have never seen it before.

"Convergència y ERC llaman an extender el alarde soberanista de Arenys"

The word "an" does not exist in Spanish.

The sentence could be: "Convergència y ERC llaman a extender el alarde soberanista de Arenys".

But I would say:

"Convergència y ERC llaman a la extensión del alarde soberanista de Arenys".

Whatever, this sentence is a little bit strange.

The word "an" doesn't exist. It could only be a prefix, "an-"

There is a wrong spelling in the sentence you wrote. I'm completely sure of it.
