Double Subjunctive Confusion

How would I say "If I had someone who spoke with me, I would be fluent"?

Is it "Si tuviera alguien que hablara/hablaba conmigo, tendria fluidez"? (Hablara or hablaba)

Thank you compas.

Yeah. As in "if I had someone who spoke with me I would have fluency" - Elafromexicano, Nov 20, 2015

I think your example sentence fits the category that I've seen referred to as the "currently contrary" situation. In this kind of sentence, the "si" clause takes the imperfect subjunctive and the other clause (regardless of the order of the clauses) takes the conditional.

Sorry bro. I didn't quite get that. Could you comment a sentence I could use? - Elafromexicano, Nov 19, 2015
I see that your sentence is a bit more complicated than I realized at first, but I'm wondering whether you couldn't just use "hable." I think you're at least as proficient as I am, so if I were you I'd wait for a more skilled person to translate it. - AnnRon, Nov 19, 2015
