Today, in the' palabra del día 'I tried to write: He pulled off her coat with a horrible, ripping noise.. I could only find: el ruido de tela que rasga.. ( the noise of fabric ripping).

Is there no other way of saying a ' ripping noise' ? Or any similar expression? I have no time to look into this myself tonight, a man has come to do some welding. In the dark. Spanish working hours are a mystery, I must go out and hold a torch for him.

Gracias de antemano.

I would have tried "sonido horrible de rasgar" but I have no idea if it is correct. :) - bosquederoble, Nov 16, 2015

I would say: .... "un sonido horrible de rasgadura" or "un sonido de rasgadura horrible" depending on which word you want to emphasize with "horrible".

What about. Se quitó la chaqueta con un terrible sonido de desgarro? Or con un sonoro ruido a desgarro? If there was ripping you could say con un sonoro desgarro.(I know that it isn't exactly the same thing but it's another option).

Gracias Astotxua, I was writing about a coat being ripped off. It probably ripped as well as making a ripping noise, thanks for this excellent suggestion. - annierats, Nov 18, 2015

También,"...con un sonido de que algo se rasgaba/rajaba"
