Perdon or Perdone ?

Hello. Is there any difference between "perdon" and "perdone" ? For example: Can I say "perdon señor" instead of "perdone señor" ?

Thanks

A very good question. I only fairly recently became awaere of the difference when I gave alift to a student from the Middle East, who used 'perdone' the whole day. In the end I realized she had a point. - annierats, Nov 2, 2015

Perdone is the 3rd person singular, subjunctive, of the verb ' perdonar'. It is suitable for use with ' usted'. Perdón, I think is the noun, forgivness. Nevertheless, they can both be used although in some situations only the verb can be used, to be correct.

Example : Perdón . ( Excuse me/ Pardon) Tiene que pedir perdón ( You have to ask for forgiveness)

Perdone señora,¿ puede usted enseñarme donde está la oficina de señor Gonzalez?

Excuse me, could you show me where Mr.Gonzalez's office is?

For ' tu' use perdona' . Perdoname, por favor , querido. ( Forgive me please, darling)

Gazo,

I have never heard "perdone." Perhaps you are thinking of "perdona" instead?

In Spain, "perdon" is used in situations that "sorry" would be used in for English speakers. "Perdona" was used more as an "excuse me."

"Perdona" is the tu form of the imperative, and "perdone" is the Ud form. - jtaniel, Nov 2, 2015
Yes, as jtaniel says.. - annierats, Nov 2, 2015
Thank you all for your help :) DelaSierra , in the first videos lesson on Spanishdict, the teacher used the word "PERDONE" to start a conversation with a stranger. But on another learning platform which is Duolingo I learned to use PERDON without an "e" . - Gazo, Nov 3, 2015
