There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1: El altar para el Día de Muertos quedó justamente como me lo había imaginado.

The altar for the Day of the Dead turned out just as I had imagined it.

2: No sé justamente qué quiero comer, pero sé que quiero algo salado.

I don't know exactly what I want to eat, but I know I want something salty.

Creo que una razón de la crisis económica en España es que los trabajadores parados piden desmasiado dinero por hacer pequeñas faenas. Al menos si la persona que les pide es extranjera. Para manejar el arado no deben pedir mas de lo que justamente vale. Claro que la extranjera tiene que tirar del arado ella misma, esto es justo .

I think that one of the reasons for the economic crisis in Spain is that the out-of work ask too much money for simple everyday tasks. At least if the person that asks them is a foreigner. In order to steer the plough, they shouldn't ask for more than the correct rate. It's of course only fair that the foreigner will have to pull the plough herself.

One fourth cup Apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons honey in a tumbler, add very hot water and stir. Gargle, when not too hot, and spit out half and drink the rest. - Jubilado, Nov 2, 2015
I'm not sure the concept of Cider Vinegar exists in Spain, but I shall look out for it. I feel better just from the kind suggestions. - annierats, Nov 2, 2015
I hope you get to feeling better, amiga. :) - rac1, Nov 2, 2015

Roberto: Justamente, eso es lo que estaba pensando. El jardin es la atracción más top en esta ciudad.

Vanessa: After arriving in Madison, Wisconsin, the first thing we’re going to visit is the Olbrich Garden.

Roberto: Exactly, that's just what I was thinking. The garden is the topmost attraction in that city.

Siempre esperamos que cuando tratemos justamente con otros, esas personas traten justamente con nosotros, pero hay están los que simplemente ven la el tratamiento justo como un signo de debilidad y se aprovechan de nosotros; sin embargo siempre debemos tratar justamente con otros.

We always hope that when we treat other people justly, those people will treat us justly, but there are those that simply see just treatment as a sign of weakness and take advantage of us; nonetheless we must always treat other people justly.

A menudo David intentó esconder sus sentimientos, pero siempre Maria supo justamente lo que pensó.

Sometimes David tried to hide his feelings, but Maria always knew exactly what he thought.

or should it be in the imperfecto?:

If it's in the past, wouldn't it be David would try? I always have trouble with that. - rac1, Nov 3, 2015
I thought "a menudo" meant "often and "a veces" means sometimes. Maybe if the sense is often the conditional (or past subjunctive) might be better. How about posting this sentence separately so it can be properly addressed? - Jubilado, Nov 4, 2015
When an adverb is present suggesting the action took place various times on a more or less continual basis, the "imperfecto" is needed. I go with the second verdion "intentaba." - Daniela2041, Nov 4, 2015
@rac1 One shouldn't confuse the conditional "would" with the past "would" The past "would" is best translated by the imperfecto. - Daniela2041, Nov 4, 2015
English is soooo confusing, when you can use the same word to express two tenses. Sheesh! - Daniela2041, Nov 4, 2015
