Here is another quick question. When you talk about boys and girls you say niña for girl and niño for boys. But when you talk about everyone, you say niños. Is there something against girls or is there something else?

In a mixed group it is always "los" , much easier than English , we have to say -"the boys and the girls " Spanish ," Los niños" , easier , but I prefer "las niñas" . ;) - ray76, Oct 27, 2015
Why would you ask such a thing?? No, there is nothing against girls. Do a little research, Matjam. - rac1, Oct 27, 2015

You can use 'los niños' or las niñas'. They really mean the same thing, but 'los niños' is used for 'they' as a group of either all boys or boys and girls. 'Las niñas' is used as 'they', but I think it usually tends to be for only a group of all girls. I've used 'las niñas' as 'they' for a group of boys and girls before, and my Spanish teacher said it was fine and that it works as 'they' for a group of both boys and girls, so don't worry too much about whether it's right or not.
