There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1: ¡Mira esos rayos! Supongo que cancelarán el partido de béisbol.

Look at that lightning! I suppose the baseball game will be canceled.

2: Supongo que ese muchacho que se parece tanto a ti es tu hermano.

I assume that boy that looks so much like you is your brother.

My motto. I have had to learn this lesson from my life experiences. It's sooo much better this way. - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015

Supongo que algún día podré jubilarme, pero cada vez que trato de hablar con mi esposa sobre lo que podríamos hacer para aminorar los gastos, me doy cuenta de que no va a ser dentro de poco.

I suppose that someday I will be able to retire, but every time that I try to talk to my wife about what we could do to reduce expenses, I realize that it is not going to be anytime soon.

Natalia: No lo sé; supongo que no.

Roberto: Do you think Jimmy will be arriving late at the party?

Natalia: I don't know; I suppose not.

La esposa de Noé: Corazón, ya que ahora vivimos en California, y sabemos que viene un gran "El Niño" supongo que ya es hora de recomponer el arca.

Noah's wife: Honey, since we now live in California and we know that a big "El Niño" is coming, I suppose it's time to fix the ark.

"El niño" is a weather pattern that generates warm waters in the Pacific Ocean, which brings about torrential rains all over the West. - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
Señora Noé dijo: Constuye un nuevo, no voy a limpiarlo despues de lo que los animales hicieron. - Jubilado, Oct 22, 2015
Muy chistoso, Jubi.:) A little help with the grammar: "construye" (yours a typo?) and in this case we say "uno nuevo" meaning a new one. "Uno" becomes a pronoun here instead of an indefinite article. - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
¡Muchas gracias! Yes, typo. Voy a decir tres veces "construye uno nuevo" para recordar. - Jubilado, Oct 22, 2015
Boy, did I goof!!! I just remembered that inspite of the "el" , "arca" is femenini. ¡Ay! - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
"femenine" that is. - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
So that makes it "construye U N A nueva" Sheesh!!!!! - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
Better hurry, have you seen San Andreas :-)!!!??? - Jraider, Oct 22, 2015
In two years they are predicting a big quake in California. - rac1, Oct 22, 2015
D O N' T S A Y that!!!!! Shhhhhhhh! I'm going to start building a helicopter! I'm not afraid of seismos, but I am afraid of 40,000,000 frightened panicking people. Wow! - Daniela2041, Oct 23, 2015
Danni, I was sure that the "el niño" brought a drought not rain . - ray76, Oct 23, 2015
Ray, the west of the Americas gets lots of rain while we in Australia get a drought. - jennysk, Oct 23, 2015
Ray, I sent you a PM with a link to an el niño article. It brings R A I N !! :-) - Daniela2041, Oct 23, 2015

He dicho palabras que pensaba me expliqué pensè que tenìan sentido pero aun los que me conocen bien supusieron que estaba diciendo algo completamente differente.

I have said words that I thought made sense but even those who know me well assumed I was saying something completely different.

A little problem with grammar, but no time to offer a correction. Maybe Pablo64 will help. If not I'll be back from work in about 3 or 4 hours. - Daniela2041, Oct 22, 2015
I hate being misunderstood. - rac1, Oct 22, 2015
@ Jubi: You made some good changes. A little different from what I was going to suggest. '--pensaba que tenían buen sentido, pero..." To make sense" in Spanish is "tener sentido" --to have sense. - Daniela2041, Oct 23, 2015

El cerdito mayor dijo- Suponemos que la gente de La Puebla duerme muy bien de noche. Creo que si zarpáramos ahora mismo, no se darían cuenta hasta almanecer . ¡Venga! ¡Manos a la obra !

The oldest piglet said: '' We can imagine that the people of La Puebla sleep very well at night. I think, that if we were cast off now, they would not discover until dawn. Come on! All hands on deck!

En caso de duda pregunte , no suponga, si no puede cometer muchos errores.

If in doubt ask, but do not assume, if not you can make many mistakes.

Hi, Porcu, in this case you should write "si no" instead of "sino". Saludos! - LuisCache, Oct 22, 2015
Porcu, drop the ' but', not needed. ( Possibly presume is better than asume? ) Your Englsish is getting terrific! - annierats, Oct 22, 2015
Well, maybe they can use a man in a suit instead of A, and a women in a skirt instead of B. That would reduce any embarrassing situations. - Sassette, Oct 22, 2015

"¿Por qué no me dijiste lo que pasó?"

"Supuse que lo sabías"

"¿Por qué siempre supones todo? ¡Eso me vuelve loca! ¡Tienes que comunicar!"

"Why didn't you tell me what happened?"

"I assumed you knew."

"Why do you always assume things?. It drives me crazy! You have to communicate!"
