¿Hermanastro o Medio Hermano?

¿Hermanastro o Medio Hermano?

Hola a todos,

I started Spanish 3 and it's an online course. I am reviewing vocabulary words for family and new words. (In-Laws, Step-Family, and Status: Divorced, Married, Separated, or Single.)

Last year, our teacher told us that Half-Brother was Medio Hermano, but on the online course it said that half-brother was Hermanastro.

Which one do I use? I have half-brothers and want to know the word.

"Medio Hermano" is "Half-brother", but "Hermanastro" is "Step brother". Hope this helps you smile

Casi correcto. "Hermanastro" "a" instead of "o" - Daniela2041, Oct 21, 2015
Oops, it's corrected now :P Thanks, Daniela :) - Dogboy1000, Oct 21, 2015

Both are used, but I think "Hermonastro" is more formal, "Medio hermano" is more common in everyday speech.

Edit: My bad, Dogboy is correct.
