I wanted to make Synonym Flashcards in Spanish for my Grandchildren to play "Go Fish"
Anyhow, I thought I was starting out great!!! I had my lists of synonyms, here's a little reminder for those like me who have been out of school awhile. I used this little rhyme to teach my kids Homonyms sound the same like to and too and two. Synonyms mean the same Like small and little do. Antonyms are opposites Like over and under and old and new.
Thank you Spanish Dictionary for once again rescuing my fanny, I almost made a HUGE blunder I started out with neat/tidy ordenado/arreglado That one seemed pretty easy then I went on to trash/garbage of course basura came up for both of those words so I chose pendejada for the synonym OHHH My goodness, I'm so GLAD I looked it up in the dictionary, I would NEVER talk like that and to think I would of been teaching my grandkids, on my GOODNESS!!! It reminds me of the time I was teaching the Kindergartners Spanish...I was teaching fruits and colors...Le gustan las fresas? Les gustan las fresas rojas? All the shile holding up BIG pictures of the fruits for them to see, all went well until I got to the cherries and said...Les Gustan las cervesas? After a few times of saying it, and it NOT sounding correct, I put the picture over my face and turned to the teacher and said..".I think I'm saying B-E-E-R," she said, "I thought you were too" then I remembered and said to the class "Les gustan cerezas"
So for anyone who would like to try their hand at SYNONYMS here's a list I would like to have without teaching my grandkids basura!!! Or add any others you would like!!! Thank you so much!!! Sharon

I'll help with some:
noisy / loud = ruidoso(a) / alto(a) un sonido alto
idea / thought = la idea / el pensamiento Hint: teach the article with the noun there are exceptions
tired / sleepy = cansado(a) / somnoliento(a)
nice / kind = amable / atento(a) [more for attentive, gracious, etc.] amable is best for both.
You know you can look these up on the translate function of this site, but I think this is a good exercise for all of us. That is why I am participating.
