There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Hace más de diez años estuve al colegio estaba en la escuela cerca de me casa con mi nieto tratando de enseñarle un poco de francés (porque puedo hablar mejor francés). Vi a una mujer con hija quien me pareció mexicana y le pregunté como decir “around the pond” en español porque estábamos caminando en la orilla de una laguna. Me dijo “alrededor de la laguna”. Fue la primera vez que había escuchado esta palabra y fue un poco difícil recordarla. Por cierto en francés es “autour l’étang”.
It was more than ten years ago I was at the college near my house with my grandson trying to teach him a little French (because I speak French better). I saw a woman with daughter who looked to be Mexican and I asked her how to say “around the pond” in Spanish because we were walking at the edge of a pond. She told me “alrededor de la laguna”. It was the first time that I had heard this word and was kind of hard to remember. By the way in French it’s “autour l’étang”.
