Of course there are various ways to say most things. In this case it´s only certain things in a horror film that scare people, so I would say: "No me asustan / espantan las películas de horror".

I love your answer. THere are most always more than one way to skin the cat. Here we have four words/phrases: tener miedo, temer, asustar, espantar. All can be used effectively. - gringojrf, Oct 9, 2015

I would say:

Or:

Of course saying: "A mí no me dan miedo" is redundant, but it is commonly used in conversation.

Ray:

I am not afraid of horror movies.

Also:

Why would "le" be used? Isn't that for indirect objects and I don't think "horror films" is an indirect object. If anything, it seems like a direct object. In general the use of "le" can be very confusing to me. - Sassette, Oct 9, 2015
@ Sassette: Chileno has used a different, and correct, sentence structure in which "las pelis ..." is optional and only clarification but the pronoun is absolutely necessary, although he forgot the "S" - "les" - 005faa61, Oct 9, 2015
Julian, to me les and le are different. I used le. Research and see that your statement is correct. I do not know grammar. :) - chileno, Oct 10, 2015

I would say it differently but your variant is correct, save "las pelis" :-) - 005faa61, Oct 9, 2015
Thanks Julian. I totally left out "las". thanks. :) - rac1, Oct 9, 2015

Both "temer" and "tener miedo de' work very well.

Temer doesn't need "a" unless you're afraid of a person. Juanito teme a los matones.

Juanito is a afraid of bullies.

I just saw Julian's post and I agree with him also. But that's coming from a different direction. The subject is now the movies. The horror movies don't scare me." - Daniela2041, Oct 9, 2015
Agreed but "No me dan temor" sounds more natural to me - 005faa61, Oct 9, 2015
Julian. Oh how Mexicans love to use Dar. I agree this is how most here would say it. - gringojrf, Oct 9, 2015
