Trilled rr's please help me this is terrible problem
I have been practicing Spanish for awhile now and I'm trying to learn. I have just started taking it serious but then I learned to speak perfect Spanish you must know how to trill your R's Please walk me threw every step . I tried Spanish videos and the notes from off of wiki, but hardly anything seems to work . I think the problem is because everyone keeps saying you must do all this stuff with your tongue but yet they don't tell you how please help me so I can help others and also learn to speak perfect Spanish . Rolling R's
There are two kinds of "r" sound in Spanish: 1. The alveolar flap where the tip of the tongue just snaps once against the alveolar ridge (just behind the front teeth) in the roof of the mouth. It sounds like an English "d" or a "t" "Señora" for example sounds like "senodda." And "para ti" sounds like "pot o' tea."
The other sound is more like a motor running or a machine gun. Most little kids have no problem with this sound. I have heard, however,that this sound, called "the alveolar trill" is an ability that comes with the DNA. You can either do it or you can't. It's like being able to curl your tongue or bringing down your little finger all by itself without the others following it involuntarily.
People like this are "erre" challenged. But fear not! Profesora Daniela has the solution. I once had a Mexican friend of mine who was "erre" challenged. Imagine a Mexican who can't roll his "r's" How did he handle it? By gargling his "r's" . I have shown my "erre" challenged students how to do this. By gradually bringing up the speed of the gargle, you will fool everybody into thinking you are pronouncing the "rr" sound correctly. I have demonstrated this to my students without telling them what I was doing, and they couldn't tell the difference.
