Question about 4000 reputation & advertisements

I have to wait until 4000 reputation points for advertisement reduction, right? Are the ads being reduced, or will they not be on the website pages at all after that? I'm asking because I saw that under the reputation point gaining list, and it just made me wonder.

I use what bosquederoble does and it really helps. Right now there are 11 ads being blocked. - Jubilado, Oct 4, 2015

Hello Dogboy

Good question wink

The adverts will be reduced but they will not disappear altogether. I have been a member of this website for over 5 years now and with over 100K rep points I still continue to see adverts but fewer of them! Most of the adverts are not a problem ... you learn to switch off from their messages unless a particular one relating to languages or something else grabs your interest or attention! wink

In my experience, the only two kinds of adverts that can cause a problem are 1 the ones that flash and are therefore a distraction if you are trying to learn new knowledge from flashcards, doing a test or trying to answer someone's post in the forum. The second kind are those that are placed near to where you need to click to access a function on this website such as the phrasebook, dictionary, translator or submit button so you can save a post!

I hope this helps smile

Passing 4000 reduces adverts a small amount, the majority are still there.

I use adblock plus, and see almost no ads:

https://adblockplus.org/

I would not have had to do that if the ads did not slow the page to the extent that when I was trying to type it dropped some letters. But I could not handle that. I cannot use the windows explorer in windows 10 because there seems to be no adblock for it, at least when I checked when I first got it. So I use chrome.

Cannot post.....ORZ........I just got some problems after I click on some ads from a nowhere site, my homepage is changed to Searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net after I get that plug-in installed. My new tab is changed to it, too!!! These stupid things almost makes me crazy and until i get an instruction from the Internet and remove the homepage virus. So, on my opinion, never click any suspicious ads even they are annoying!
