Precentile

Question

As simple as it is. What is that "precentile 99" (it never changes!) doing on my profile?

Answer 1

It seems you have a 95 percentile in points, a 99 percentile in badges and a 0 percentile in points.

That tells you what percentile you are in for each category.

So for instance, the 1% of users in the 95 percentile of points should have more points than 94 percent of the users and less points than 4 percent, leaving 1 percent (the 95 percentile people) "about" the same (the higher the percentile, the greater the range in any given percentile I would imagine).

I am in the 100 percentile for everything, so it is possible to get there. Despite that, there are some people higher than me in every category.

A lot of users join and do essentially nothing, so it is fairly easy to rapidly acheive some percentiles just by doing something, but those in the highest percentiles have often done quite a lot, so those last few percentiles are harder to reach.
