Please help me translate "quedé efectiva"

Buenos días!

I'm trying to translate the following sentence:

"Comencé hace tres años con una pasantía y luego quedé efectiva."

I think it means something like:

"I started three years ago with an internship and later I was effective" (as in, "I turned out to be an effective employee" or something like that?)

Is this correct and is "quedar efectivo" how a native would normally express "to be effective" / "to be good at something"?

I remember seeing this term in a newspaper. Until then I just knew en efectivo as in cash! It is a way of describing permanent, on the books staff/employees - la plantilla fija.

quedar efectivo, that does not make sense. l would say "Comencé hace tres años con una pasantía y luego obtuve un puesto fijo."

In the SD translator, one of the examples was "el trabajo ha quedado perfecto" which means "the job turned out perfectly." So I think you're definitely on the right track - something like "I turned out to be effective/good at what I do." (Of course, after 3 years, I hope you would be!! )
