translating words to spanish in a diary

Question

Ayer was terrible! Yo arrived tarde a la escuela porque I slept hasta las nueve y media. Yo no ate el desayuno, y I had hambre toda la manana.

On english words I translated them as follows: was- sé arrived- llegue I slept- duormi ate-comi I had-tuve is that correct?

sé is 'I know' - 'it was' can be 'fue era estuvo estaba' in this case is 'fue'..yo 'llegué' a la...'dormí' not 'duormi' I think it was a typo..and I think that it is 'tomar el desayuno' not 'comer el desayuno' anyway 'comí' would be the right answer - Pablo064, Sep 24, 2015

'tuve' is okay 'Ayer fue terrible. Yo llegué tarde a la escuela porque dormí hasta las nueve y media. Yo no comí(tomé would be correct) el desayuno y tuve hambre toda la mañana' - Pablo064, Sep 24, 2015

Ayer was ... fue

I arrived ..... llegué

I slept .... me dormí

I ate .... tomé desayuno... or "desayuné"

The last should be "tenía" if this sentence indicates the time frame in which the other actions took place. If not, then "tuve" is OK. It´s a matter of context.

The way you have presented your sentence is ridiculous. It´s better to write the entire sentence in just one language and ask if it´s correct. If your teacher gave you this task in this manner, I suggest you find another teacher. Mixing languages like this is the kiss of death.

Kiss of death- entirely so as word order can differ, and praises need to be translated as a whole. The best way is concept to concept. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 24, 2015
