When I was solving one of the problems in homework about object pronoun, I was very confused on what to put for this one=

-¿Qué haces, Diego?

-Estoy __________ un abrigo porque voy a salir.

Would I be putting "lo" or something else on this one?

Explanation please!

See my and bosque's comments. Read them and revise what you did in the lesson. If you cannot figure out an answer it is good to get an answer wrong because it is the best way to learn. There is no benefit to you fooling your teacher into thinking you have - Mardle, Sep 22, 2015
Understood something which you have not. It is very important to get the basics right. - Mardle, Sep 22, 2015

The only possible pronoun here would be "me"

"Estoy poniéndome un abrigo porque voy a salir." I'm putting on (myself) a coat because I'm going to go out.

I see you have put your level as intermediate so are you revising pronouns? Your sentences is incomplete. I think you are using present progressive, maybe you would be looking for the coat - buscando and if you need to rewrite with a pronoun you need I am looking for it. When you add a pronoun to replace the noun with the progressive tense you add the pronoun onto the gerund and add an accent.

I would guess you need to add buscándolo as the overcoat is masculine.

Reread what you have. If you were talking in English 'what are you doing? I am looking for it' is missing part of the narrative.

I don't think you need the lo, as it is a direct object and thus does not need to be redundant when it follows the verb. Personally to me, to complete the sentence I would put poniéndome. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 22, 2015
on the sentence he has produced he just needs buscando which is why I thought part of the conversation is missing. - Mardle, Sep 22, 2015
I only suggested using ponerse, as it would include a pronoun- granted using buscar would be something a real person might ask, and it should be obvious for ponerse, but homework sentences are often very contrived. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 22, 2015
Honestly, without further detail, any number of verbs could be chosen- for my wife- elegir- because she would be standing in front of her closet looking at all her coats, trying to decide which to wear. :D - bosquederoble, Sep 22, 2015
An I now understand your thinking - I am putting ( on myself) my coat. I was focusing on an answer using lo. We need to see what the homework was testing - Mardle, Sep 22, 2015

I have a stupid question. To me, reflexive pronouns are not object pronouns. Is this not correct? I say this because reflexive pronouns can disrupt the IOP, DOP, Verb order.

Daniela, you teach this stuff. Are reflexive pronouns taught as being object pronouns? I notice in your answer you just call it a pronoun not an object pronoun.

There are subject pronouns, direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns and reflexive pronouns. There's a lot more I could say about this but any good college textbook would have the info. - Daniela2041, Sep 23, 2015
Reflexive pronouns are not object pronouns, but follow the same rules as to placement. - Daniela2041, Sep 23, 2015
