Abadernar.
Hi friends,
I just learned a new verb today , which is "abadernar" which according to my google search means "to fasten with small ropes" (like a ship) .. but I couldn't find this verb listed on SD.. so just wanted to check with the native friends if it is a common verb and if it is used (if atall) and is it worth learning ..
Thanks

I think only people related to ships would use it. Other people just use "sujetar" or "atar", this literally means "sujetar con cuerdas/sogas".
You must know that, in Spanish, when you take a ship the names of ALL change. I don't know if in English is the same, but in Spanish everything onboard has a different name that it has in "normal life".
So, probably the verb is totally correct, but nobody is going to understand you if you use it out of a ship.
